Hello from Gabby the Chihuahua hairdresser!

Updated: May 30, 2020

Thank you so much for stopping by my brand new site! My name is Gabby, and I've been a hairdresser so many years, I could do a fade with my big, buggy Chihuahua eyes closed! I could, you may not want me to, but I bet I could.

Here's a little bit about me...I fell in love with salons when I was a pup, when I'd go in for a haircut appointment.

The exquisite aroma of coffee, perms, outdated magazines, and hot gossip tantalized my gigantic Chihuahua eyes and ears, like fresh pee on a fire hydrant in the dead of summer.

I knew early on that this was the profession for me.

Hairdressers are artists helping people, which inspires my slogan "making the world more beautiful, one head at a time."

The proudest achievement of my life, (other than marrying my husband Spike the Doberman), was earning my Cosmetology license, and of course, birthing our pups, Adam and Benji, who attend private obedience school.

When clients look and feel better about themselves, they're more likely to go out and spread some joy to others..then..here's the BONUS.. they pay me, and that's a win-win situation for all, since I love to eat. And I eat good. Hmm, every time I mention the "F" word, FOOD, I end up getting hungry, go figure?!

Born a female, we're natural people pleasers. In actuality, most Chihuahuas are people-pleasers, and if they say they're not, they're full of POOP. I mean, come on... wearing those uncomfortable sweaters so humans can come up and make us smell their hand is only worth it when there's a treat involved, and preferably not a cheap one from the dollar store.

..work it, girl!

Salon work is much more rewarding than my two previous jobs. My first job, for a very short while, was Emotional Support Dogging.

I filled in one summer for my neighbor, Valentine the Pug, who is a hairdresser at Hairy Tales Salon now, but was on maternal leave expecting yet another litter with her (kinda lazy, but he's a good doghouse-husband), Oliver the Pug...OH, gosh, will she read this??...probably not, an emotional support dog never gets a minute to herself, not even for a mani-pedi, let alone dog paddling the web!

My second job was also a short stint, as a dog groomer. It was good practice, but hard to build up a clientele. I prefer to work on human hair, for a couple of reasons, one being, is that humans don't bite you, (especially when you have a pair of scissors in your paw), and, to be quite frank, they tip better. FRANK!? oh gosh, I'm starving again..

This pic of a poodle named Mercedes who, when we were in Beauty School, used to let me practice clipper work on her..good thing her hair grows fast! Mercedes currently works in a salon down the street. (More on her later, that could go on all day!)

Anyway, life at "Hairy Tales Salon" is rarely boring, so I hope you enjoy a YAP or two, while I reminisce about some of my humorous personal experiences. Feel free to comment.

Forget the water, keto doesn't count today...WAITER! Can you bring me a bowl of wine?
